We are grateful to the 900 walkers, plus our walk sponsors, volunteers and many others who pledged support for the 2026 Capuchin Walk for the Hungry. Together we made a big impact on alleviating the effects of poverty and food insecurity in Milwaukee. Thank you!

Thank you to this wonderful group who came all the way from Chicago! These folks are here in Milwaukee and are giving their time and help to several ministries and services around the city. They packed food boxes, sorted clothes, and organized school supplies for our upcoming Back-To-School Drive.
After spending the afternoon at House of Peace serving in the food pantry, they moved over to St. Ben`s to assist with the evening meal!

Today was Ms. Linda Barnes` last day as Site Director of House of Peace. After nearly 40 years of service in Milwaukee, she is starting her next journey in retirement! She`s so grateful and overwhelmed with joy by all the well wishes, cards, and flowers that she`s received!
Here`s a message from Ms. Linda:
"For the last 37 years, I have served this Ministry. Now it is time to move on to my next adventure. I cannot move forward without thanking all of you! All of you that walked with me on any part of my journey. Thank you for your love, your support, your encouragement. Thank you for allowing me to not always feel like I needed to be perfect. Thank you for accepting my leadership style. I will keep memories of this journey and all of you, in my heart for ever. Thank you for the laughs, the smiles. Thank you for being at my side, on the battlefield. May God continue to bless and Strengthen each of you."
Thank you, Ms. Linda and enjoy your retirement!
On Friday, we gathered for a special surprise celebration honoring Ms. Linda Barnes on her retirement!
For nearly 40 years, Linda has faithfully served at House of Peace, beginning as a social worker and later leading the ministry as Site Director. Through her compassion and dedication to those in need, she carried forward the legacy started by Br. Booker Ashe.
Linda now leaves a legacy of her own—one rooted in Matthew 25 and reflected in the countless lives she has touched over the years. That impact was evident throughout her retirement celebration, as staff, friars, family members, and friends came together to express their gratitude, share memories, and wish her well in her retirement!
Tomorrow – join the Knight of Columbus #4706 for a Movie Day at St. Ben`s!

Br. Dave Schwab, OFM Cap. made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was passionate about St. Ben`s and the Capuchin Walk for the Hungry – which he started in 2005. Here`s a video that we showed at this year`s Capuchin Walk to honor Br. Dave.
Capuchins give priority in their ministries to the two loves of St. Francis’ life:
Serving the poor and preaching the Gospel.
